BIOSTAT 615/815 – Statistical Computing

Instructor:  Abecasis, Goncalo

Tu,Th 8:30-10

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisites: Biostat 650

Statistical computing and its applications in biostatistical techniques. Use of computational algorithms to generate random numbers, to calculate univariate statistics, to perform multiple and nonlinear regression, and to find maximum likelihood estimates. Enables students to understand numerical results produced by a computer and to design Monte Carlo simulation studies. In parallel, students learn concepts of efficient programming and usage of BMDP package of biomedical computer programs.
