Biostatistics 830 – SNPs, Haplotypes, and Association Studies

Instructor: Qin

MW 8:30-10

3 credits

The International HapMap Project has been a huge success. An avalanche of data has been generated and is publicly available. A great deal of research in statistical genetics is focusing on SNPs, haplotypes, and how to use them to perform large scale association studies. In this class, we will focus on this rapidly evolving field to provide a survey of the latest developments for large scale genetics studies. Some examples are: SNP selection using HapMap data, correcting for population structure, correcting for multiple testing, and haplotype-based association tests.
